How to Turn Inspiration Into Results
Inspiration is the spark that can create a fire. But what keeps that fire going? After inspiration you need some sort of motive, like staying warm or cooking food to survive. Then you need a plan because after a while your motivation will die off. Let’s say you decide to put a log on the fire every 30 minutes. Once you have a plan, you need to have the discipline to follow that plan of putting a new log on the fire every 30 minutes. After a while, you develop a habit of putting the log on the fire. Minimal thinking and minimal emotions are involved (kind of like brushing your teeth).
Here’s another example that might be more relevant to you.
1) Inspiration - “Oh this guy on IG ran a marathon. I want to do that!”
2) Motivation - “I want to look good and feel good!”
3) Plan - [Insert marathon training plan here.]
4) Discipline - “It’s cold outside but I’m still doing my runs.”
5) Habit - “Something feels off if I don’t go for a run.”
Eventually, you want to develop healthy habits. This applies to your nutrition, sleep, stress, and other aspects of your life. When you get to the point of developing healthy habits, then everything just seems so easy. But this takes time and patience.
